THE POWER OF ENERGY HEALING

What is Energy Healing?

Energy flows through all living matter. Spiritual energy healing is gaining greater acceptance by doctors trained in western medical practices. One influential supporter is Dr. Mehmet Oz; he teaches and engages his audience to explore the many health options available beyond their doctor’s office.

The physical systems of the body responds to negative energy through pain, disease or changes in stress-levels. Doctors treat physical symptoms but fail to acknowledge or treat the source of the problem, whereas spiritual energy healing works to determine what is the underlying cause or source of the physical symptom and works to heal the source. Energy healing complements and supports other methods of healing because it addresses the energy which the body, mind and emotions are composed. The use of energy healing links spirituality and energy to help treat all aspects of a person’s health.

Energy Healing is based on two beliefs. The first is that the body consists of energy moving in channels (meridians) around and through the body. When there’s too much or too little energy, we become sick. We may become physically, mentally, emotionally and/or spiritually ill when the energy levels are out of balance. This approach is a holistic one.

The second necessary component to help energy medicine work is the belief of the patient. He or she must accept as true the premise regarding energy. He or she must also have faith in the practitioner’s ability to alter the energy patterns. The practitioner may do so by turning to one of several different kinds of energy healing.

Here are a few popular forms of energy healing used today

Reiki

A Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Qigong

Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. Qigong practices can be classified as martial, medical, or spiritual. All styles have three things in common: they all involve a posture, (whether moving or stationary), breathing techniques, and mental focus. Some practices increase the Qi; others circulate it, use it to cleanse and heal the body, store it, or emit Qi to help heal others. Practices vary from the soft internal styles such as Tai Chi; to the external, vigorous styles such as Kung Fu. However, the slow gentle movements of most Qigong forms can be easily adapted, even for the physically challenged and can be practiced by all age groups.

Matrix Energetics

Based on the science behind quantum physics Matrix Energetics is a transformational healing technique that merges touch and intent. The Matrix Energetics practitioner’s focused intent affects changes that bring about healing for the recipient. The practitioner’s touch is used to identify areas on the body that need attention. Matrix Energetics is a tool that brings about shifts in the consciousness. It appears to be more about “clearing away” old ideas that block energy or “getting out of the way” and letting energy take its natural path.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy synthesizes knowledge and experience gleaned from centuries of eastern and western healing theories with an understanding of energy dynamics. Polarity Therapy incorporates a systemic knowledge of energy mapping based on the five natural elements (Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth) and the 7 primary energy centers or chakras. Polarity is based on orthodox anatomy and physiology as well the energy anatomy of humans. Polarity Therapy involves the skillful application of bodywork techniques to promote harmonious life functions. With intuitive sensitivity, the practitioner’s hands locate and help to free blocked energy caused by distress on any level. With gentle yet penetrating therapeutic touch, free-flowing balanced energy movement is restored as the body’s natural self-healing powers are stimulated. Physical manipulations, gentle stretching, light reflex contacts and hand movements off the body comprise much of the Polarity art form. In creative combination with other therapeutic styles, (e.g. visualizations, breathing variations, awareness counseling, and other forms of bodywork), balance in the system is achieved.

Acupuncture

A form of Chinese medicine, that has been practiced for centuries. It’s based on the theory that energy, called chi flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and help it flow back into balance. Acupuncture is done by putting very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body. This is done to influence the energy flow. Sometimes heat, pressure, or mild electrical current is used along with needles.

Crystal healing

Crystals have a long tradition of being used for crystal healing. Each variety of crystal has a unique internal structure, which causes it to resonate at a certain frequency. It is this resonance that is said to give crystals their healing abilities. Applying this resonance in a coherent way can help to restore stability and balance to the bodies energy systems, stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Crystal therapy is a gentle non-invasive form of alternative healing that works holistically to harmonize the mind, body, emotions and spirit, helping to increase our feeling of well-being, neutralize negativity, lift depression and to help us to become integrated, whole beings. Crystal healing is great for Headaches, Difficulty sleeping, Lack of energy and the chakras.
