The original recipe for Pastel

Ingredients:

– 300 grams of tahini (paste made from pure ground sesame)

– 300 grams of natural honey

Note: In health food stores you can find ready tahini.

You can do it yourself if you have time and a good blender:

For good homemade tahini spread should you raw hulled sesame seeds and oil of your choice (usually 2 teaspoons oil go to one or a half cup of seeds, depending on how thick you want the mixture – mostly used sesame, olive or sunflower). Lightly fry the seeds in a pan without adding fat until golden (5-10 minutes, stirring constantly). Be careful that you don’t burn it because Sesame will become bitter tasting. When they cool, put them in a blender with the olive oil and mix until you have a paste with the desired consistency (you can add more olive oil if desired).

Procedure:

Mix these two ingredients in a bowl. Before placing in the container you pour the accumulated oil that forms on top of the vessel with the tahini. Both compounds are liquid, but which is very interesting, when you mix them well, will be cured in the mass which can be shaped like dough.

During mixing, you can add the weight and a handful of crushed pieces of walnuts, almonds, pistachios or hazelnuts if you want. Some, are making this recipe, baking the mixture as not recommended due to the large loss of useful components but also of the taste.

Make some balls or some interesting form. Coat the balls in whole sesame seeds.
