Harvard Scientist Urges People to Stop Drinking “Low-Fat” Milk

Dairy products may be more dangerous for our health than we initially believed.

Unlike organic and unprocessed, vegan dairy products, a Harvard researcher asserts that what standard dairy products represent serious threat to our health.

David Ludwig, the aforementioned researcher published his work in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics, that artificially sweetened beverages cause harm to our organism.


Ultimately, this sugar consumption can lead to obesity, diabetes, inflammatory-related pain, and other issues. The United States Department of Agriculture, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other organizations have gathered are strongly supportive of the idea that sugary drinks should be avoided.

The only product of this sort that is approved is reduced-fat milk, but no more than 3 cups per day. Ludwig, however, even questions this decision of the organizations.

“This recommendation to drink three cups a day of milk – it’s perhaps the most prevailing advice given to the American public about diet in the last half century.

As a result, Americans are consuming billions of gallons of milk a year, presumably under the assumption that their bones would crumble without them,” states David Ludwig.

According to him, if reduced-fat milk is approved for consumption, other artificially sweetened drinks will be too. That is why it is important to say ‘No’ to all beverages of this sort and avoid added sugars in general.

“The worst possible situation is reduced-fat chocolate milk: you take out the fat, it’s less tasty. So to get kids to drink 3 cups a day, you get this sugar-sweetened beverage,” Ludwig claims. ”…we can get plenty of calcium from a whole range of foods. On a gram for gram basis, cooked kale has more calcium than milk. Sardines, nuts seeds beans, green leafy vegetables are all sources of calcium.”

The Case Against Low-Fat Dairy, and Other Dangers of Milk

David Ludwig took his time to criticize the USDA’s recommendations, but this is not the end of it.

Particular fats, like trans-fats and refined polyunsaturated fats in vegetable oils (like corn, soy, sunflower, and canola) are better to avoid, and new evidences on consuming saturated fat, often found in milk, coconut oil, and grass-fed land animals, are brought into the spotlight.

Although saturated fat has been aggressively treated as harmful, one 2010 study released in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that “there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of [coronary heart disease or cardiovascular disease].”

Furthermore, other full-fat dairy products are recommended for drinking as well.

Full-fat dairy products have been proven to boost the human health, regulate diabetes, absorb more vitamins to the body, reduce cancer symptoms and promote weight loss.

Pure dairy products are, therefore, far healthier than conventional dairy products.

Next time, be careful to read dairy products labels and pay attention to the number of harmful ingredients they bring along. Milk will never look the same afterwards
